Like Owls Cottage, Bird’s Nest has an open-plan living area, with a kitchen leading off from this. Click here to see a floor plan for the cottages. Throughout the cottage you will see the original beams, a reminder of its humble origins. An electric ‘woodburner’ stove in the lounge adds a warm glow on chilly winter evenings and you will find lots of brochures so you can plan your next day’s activities.

There are no steps, everything is on one level and the doors are wide enough to allow for wheelchair use, but of course there is no reason why anyone shouldn’t find the cottage pleasant to stay in.

The kitchen is equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and coffee machine. A television with Freeview and built-in DVD is provided in the lounge. Both cottages are heated by programmable built-in electric panel heaters in each room and double-glazing throughout ensures that the cottages are warm and cosy, but the thick walls keep them nice and cool in summer.

In this cottage both bedrooms have double beds, making it ideal for two couples. We can also offer you a fold-up bed in the lounge if you need one. If you have children, take a look at Owls Cottage.

The bathroom has a combined bath/shower and is spacious enough for wheelchair access to bath and toilet, although please note that the shower is not a walk-in shower.

All bed linen and towels are provided and beds are made up ready for your arrival. A washing machine and tumble drier are available for guests at the farmhouse just 50 m away.

Birds Nest cottage has a small secluded garden and there is ample space for parking right outside the cottage. Garden tables and chairs are provided, and barbeque facilities are available to make the most of warm summer evenings.

Please note that there is no wifi at the cottages – this was only available at the farmhouse and due to the current situation we are unable to provide access.

We had such a lovely stay at the birds nest. The internet said there was no iron or ironing board or hair dryer – but there was. Very much home from home. Lovely to have a bit of milk and tea on arrival. The kids loved that we could see the cows from the window – our cow neighbours. The barn is on a farm but you are quite seperate from it. Very good value for money.

Helen and Dave were perfect hosts and their place is ideal if you want a secluded, rural break whilst being close to numerous little towns and villages. The accommodation was perfect and just as described, we would love to visit again.

Birds Nest has a similar layout to Owls floorplan except that it has a combined bathroom/toilet and the second bedroom has a double bed instead of bunk beds. Doors are wider to allow wheelchair access, and an additional door in the lounge opens into the garden.
